Hi! My name is Jessica Alicea!

So, a little about me…
I am a teacher, a wife, a mother of three, and a true techie at heart:)
I have been a teacher for almost 2 decades now and have witnessed some huge changes in my profession. Because the rate of change is so rapid, it’s really important for us educators to keep up with it! I look at this as a positive thing. The ever changing world of education has afforded me the opportunity to be a “life long learner,” especially when it comes to technology!

I’m always looking for Technology based PD courses so I can bring new edtech tools into my classroom as well as share them with my colleagues. Having three elementary aged children of my own, I see first hand how their lives are pretty much ruled by technology. I think that just about very kid has some type of technological device that they use for pleasure. It’s important that we as educators keep our kids just as engaged in the classroom.

So how do we do that?

By implementing some of the really awesome, easy to use Edtech tools that are available  to educators everywhere!

I mentioned earlier that I have the ability to continue taking technology courses each year, which is where I am learning about all of these exciting new Edtech tools. I know isn’t an option for everyone so I decided to share everything I learn from these courses with all of you! Aside from being interested in how to use technology in my classroom, over the years I have also learned how to utilize and more important monetize some simple technology tools in my personal life. I’m going to share this knowledge with you too:)

Before my children were born, I started a homemade dog treat business to make some extra money on the side. I would bake the homemade treats at home and then sell them at local craft fairs and other small events that catered to this type of thing. After a year or so I had built up a nice following and wanted to keep expanding! What better place to grow a business then on the Internet! So, I had my first website built in 2005 and my technology journey began.

I quickly realized that I had to figure out how people would find my business on such a huge platform. This is when I was introduced to Internet Marketing. I took several courses, connected with some of the most successful Internet Marketers out there, took part in hundreds of webinars, and started to leverage all the knowledge that I had gained.

One of the first things that I learned was that having a blog for your business was one of the best ways to get noticed on the Internet. Google and all of the other large search engines look for blogs that are full of meaningful, helpful, and interesting content. So I learned how to set up a blog and started blogging about my business! I With 3 kids I no longer had the time to be baking dog treats… so instead, I created a blog where I’m now teaching people how they can start their own homemade dog treat business:) It’s a win-win!!

You’ll find a ton of tips of tricks for blogging here too!
